Review: Dear Rockstar by Emme Rollins

Dear Rockstar - Emme Rollins

Wow. Ok, so this book dragged me back to the 80's and it was awesome. I loved it. The whole time I was reading this all I pictured in my head was old school DeGrassi. I was in heaven. Granted, I haven't been alive through many decades but out of the 3-ish I've been around for the 80's were by far the best.

So, while I was in my fabulous 80's flashback I was told the story of Sara and Dale. They had this undeniable connection and I really liked that. It was like he was made for her. But then, they both have their issues. We know from the start what they mostly are. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out exactly what Sara and her step-beast's issues actually were. I wish she had told Dale (and I) sooner so I could have spent the correct amount of time despising the bastard. The actual reason she missed graduation broke my heart. The whole situation all-around broke my heart. And her obsession with Tyler Vincent. This girl was cracked! But, I guess she had every reason to be.

Its fair to say that I liked most everything about this book.

What I didn't like was how Sara's mother's suicide was basically tossed in as an after thought.

My other issue, is just that, my issue. This may or may not have bothered anyone else. Even though they were 18 and 20, I had a hard time seeing them as adults. Just the fact that they were technically still in high school had a lot to do with it. I just kept picturing younger people. Like I said my issue.

And... the sex thing. His reluctance. Her persistence. Dale's deal? Still not completely sure what that was about but, eh, we can commend him for taking it slow. As far as Sara, I'm torn. I've never been in her situation and I don't have her issues, but I would think she would be more closed off sexually. Yes, I know, everyone reacts differently, so I didn't give much weight to this, just thought it was worth mentioning.

All in all, I liked it a whole heck of a lot and I'm looking forward to reading the next one.
