Lost In A Book

escaping reality one book at a time

so... I had to look up what a dybbuk was before I read this

Dicked by the Dybbuk (Monster Quickie) - Bytch Williams

Well, what can I say, I'm not up to speed on all my monsters.

Dirty hobos aside, this was alright.

I cringed at the thought of sucking dirty hobo peen.  Think of all the fromunda!  I think I just threw up a little.

Couldn't he have been a hot, not so dirty hobo?  Huh, guess not.  It wouldn't have the same effect.

And in the end, chica was kinda smug about the whole thing.

too good not to share
too good not to share

Lusty Aliens???

Future Escort - Carl East

What this book has?

1. Horny human.

2. Horny aliens.

3. Copious amounts of alien cum.

4. Human/Alien threesome, or is it a fourteensome (just a guess)?

There were so many cum spouts flailing around I couldn't keep up with how many there were.

And the little robots that get you squeaky clean after your cum shower.  Yay!

I have plenty of book boyfriends, but now I have a book girlfriend

The Ballad of Mila - Matteo Strukul

Alright, I'll admit it, I saw the cover and hit the request button without reading the blurb. I didn't even read the blurb after I was approved for it.

Why would I do such a thing? Well, I have a little cover lust problem, and I thought this cover was freaking bad-ass.

This is not my typical read. This is not a romance. This is a balls-to-the-wall, revenge filled, graphic, bloody, crime novel.

Mila Zago, who is she? She is a bad-ass, katana swinging, gun shooting, punch throwing Italian chick with the biggest balls I've ever seen. She is awesome. I think I may be in love with her.

When you get right down to it, this story is Italian Mafia vs. Chinese Gang vs. Mila Zago.

I have so many thoughts running through my head where this book is concerned. I really did enjoy it. It was bloody and violent and I did do some cringing. Despite all of that, I still liked it and I didn't want to stop reading it. This is supposed to be the first in a series about Mila and I think I may continue on with it. Its a good break from my usual.

I did have a couple of things that bugged me with it. One being the racial slurs in the beginning. They did seem to die off and I wasn't really sure what their purpose was. The other thing was all of Mila's "matrix-like" skills. The author explained her strength and all with the training she had but some of it just seemed unreal. Those were my only gripes. Other than that, I really did enjoy this.

If you're looking for something with a kick-ass heroine and you can handle the violence you will ultimately like this.

The Virgin: Redemption

The Virgin: Redemption - J. Dallas

Redemption picks up right where Revenge ended. Drake found Shannon in the cemetery and this is where I started losing it. The story of how her father was killed and the whole situation surrounding that was gut-wrenching and I was in tears reading that. I knew in Revenge that whatever her issues were they were big and painful and I was not wrong.

And I did enjoy the emotional connection that Shannon and Drake share. I enjoyed Redemption but I was expecting a little more.

My main issue was Drake's explanation for his douche-baggery all those years ago.

Was that a shock to read? Yeah.

Was it believable? Uh...No.

It just doesn't jive with sexual the sexual beast he seems to be now.

Shannon and her issues with the murderers... I'm glad she got past those somewhat, at least she decided not to let them control her life anymore.

Although the ending makes everything seem honky-dory, it was just a little too abrupt for me. Not sure if it really was that abrupt or if it just feels that way because it might be leading into a third book?

Overall, it was decent and if you read Revenge, you will be compelled to finish the journey and read Redemption.

Reading progress update: I've read 19 out of 164 pages.

The Ballad of Mila - Matteo Strukul

Racial slurs, anyone???

Page 19 and I've counted 3 definite and 1 maybe.

Tattoos & Sexy Times! Woot!

Marked - Lauren Dane; Vivian Arend; Kit Rocha

Marked is an anthology with shorts from Lauren Dane, Vivian Arend, and Kit Rocha. And since I'm a dunce, I was halfway through the second short when I realized the common theme was tattoos. You would think that I would've caught on sooner given that the title is "Marked" and that beautiful cover.

Even though they are all shorts they pack a huge, steamy, sexy times punch.

With Beyond Temptation, I got to venture back into Sector 4 with the O'Kanes and I was not disappointed. Hot, tech-geek Noah and used-to-be innocent Emma find their way back to each other. Along the way things are hot and dirty and intense and dirty and well... dirty. Everything you expect from the Beyond Series and Kit Rocha. A-maz-ing!

Rocky Ride was not my first read by Vivian Arend, but it was a whole different experience this time around. I loved Mitch and Anna. Their chemistry was off the charts and it wasn't so much what they did that made it so hot (though it helped), it was the way they did it. If the Six Pack Ranch Series is as hot as this was I'll definitely being going back to read it.

Lauren Dane is new to me, but I was pleasantly surprised. All That Remains had quite a few editing issues, but it was an ARC so I let that go (although, it did make it harder to get through). At any rate, Summer, Charlie and Hatch, yeah. They were great together. Their individual relationships were what really intrigued me. I like that there is no jealousy within the triad, only outside of it. Summer is so independent and I'm glad she made Hatch work for his place back in her life. And the sexy times. Wooh! Yeah... by the time I finished this, well... lets just say my husband was a very happy man.

My Ode to Weird Shit (AKA "Baby got Bytch")

Ohkay.  In honor of my earlier post about weird shit, here goes.  And please... its late, I'm tired, and feeling really abnormal.

Baby got Bytch
(Bytch Williams is the author of the books in my post about weird shit)

I like weird shit and I cannot lie
You other weirdos can't deny
That when a book shows up with a crazy-ass name
And a monster's peen in your face
You get hooked, gotta see that stuff
'Cause you wonder if the banshee used cuffs
I wanna see all these odd pairings
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh bigfoot, is it really your baby
or the Dybbuk's maybe
Mrs. Claus tried to warn me
That Santa's really horny
Ooh, furry she-wolf
You say you wanna get in her muff
You're crazy and amuse me
'Cause you ain't that average story
I've seen Slender killin'
To hell with chillin'
They're scary and big
and weirder than a monkey-pig
I'm tired of normals
Sayin' monster peens aren't the thing
To the weirdo readers its a blast
While the normal readers are aghast
So, weirdos! (Yeah!) weirdos! (Yeah!)
Has your bookshelf got the Bytch? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to read it! (Read it!) Read it! (Read it!)
Read that crazy Bytch!
Baby got Bytch!

(Slenderman face with a Bigfoot booty)
Baby got Bytch!

And if you're curious about a monkey pig...

Ok, I just can't help myself, its just... its just... too much. (if you're offended by really weird shit you may want to avoid this)

I mean, really, look at these. How could I not take a closer look?

The weirdness is just too good to be true.

And, I got the lesbian werewolf one for free last week, I think.  And the dybbuk one is free today...

so, guess what?  I got that too.

Anybody read hard science fiction?

It's not my genre of choice, but this book needs reviewers for its tour.  If you click the picture it'll take you to the sign-up page.

Couple Of Things (Shameless self-promotion, mostly)

Today is release day for Kristin Ashley's Kaleidoscope...

and I'm part of the

My blog post is here.  And there's a giveaway in the post.

And if you're in the mood for giveaways, I'm hosting my own giveaway here.

Kaleidoscope by Kristin Ashley (Needs More Ty Walker)

Kaleidoscope - Kristen Ashley

I've been curious about Jacob Decker since the end of Breathe. My mind kept asking, "Who did he lose and how did he lose her?"
You would think I might have the answers after reading Kaleidoscope, but either I'm really dense and just missed it (which is entirely possible) or it was left vague. It really doesn't matter much in the grand scheme, I suppose.

If you're a Colorado Mountain fan, you're going to enjoy this one. Deck is true to form as far as his uber-alpha-ness (yeah, I made it up, so what?) is concerned. And Emme is the quintessential heroine just with a tad more baggage then the rest. Really, though, I like Emme's baggage, makes me feel like maybe I'm not alone in my craziness.

I can't really say too much because I feel like everything I want to say is a spoiler and I'm trying really, really hard not to do that.

I did enjoy the cameos from from everyone in Gnaw Bone and Carnal, even though Ty's appearance was minimal. (*pouts* I really need more Ty in my life)

Did I like it? Absolutely. Is Deck swoonworthy? Hell Yes! Is Emme worthy of the girl posse? Y to the U to the P.

All in all, totally worth the money that you know you're going to spend on it and the sleep you're going to miss staying up to read it.

Overload

How do you know when you've had too much?

I know what you're thinking...

I mean, really, our books have all this great

and so much

and lots and lots of

and somewhere halfway through the book this happens

and then when we finish the book we're all like

Yeah, and it is awesome.

Until one day you're driving down the road and this happens

You see this
Your brain sees this
Reality is this

Yup.  That.  Devastating isn't it?

Well, I think I have hit the romance wall.

The place I work only deals with customers over the phone and we get a lot of calls from military, government and law enforcement. I never see their faces, I only hear voices.

Can you see where this is going? If not, don't worry, I'm about to explain.

Every time I answer the phone and it is someone from the military, my brain flashes a big neon sign that says "DOM".  So, I spend the entire phone call anticipating his panty-dropping "dom" voice. Thank you Ms. Masters.  You know, it's really hard to be professional when you are picturing the person on the other end of the line wielding a flogger and rope.

When I get a call from police officers, detectives and even the FBI, do you know where I go?
Yup.  Right there.
I just know that every single one of them is a dirty-talking, super-alpha who can get down to business. He also owns things that cost a whack, but he got them for a song (couldn't help it).  And I'm imagining all of this while on the phone with them.  Yes, my un-professionalism knows no bounds.  Thank you, Ms. Ashley.

And when I start thinking about taking a vacation, do you know where I want to go?
FLORIDA!!  Do you know why?  I bet Ms. Sinclair does (Thanks!).
I am completely convinced that I can go to Florida, get stranded in a storm and "accidentally" stumble upon Master Z and his club.  It's a real place, I know it is.  Anyhow, lets just say that not everyone in my household is as excited about that vacation.

At this point it may be debatable whether or not I've hit maximum capacity, but when I ask my husband if I can buy him fangs and call him Lothaire... or if I can buy us wings and we can be Reaver and Harvester...

Yeah.  Houston, we have a problem lots of problems.

It is at this point he threatens to take my books away.

Do you think that since I've hit this wall that I will stop reading or even slow down or possibly switch genres?

Yeah, that's funny!  Not going to happen.

How do you know when you've reached your maximum capacity?
